Sam Brooks & Evering

  • Bar Brig 96-98 Leith Walk Edinburgh United Kingdom (map)

Sam Brookes is reminiscent of Tim Buckley as he glides between the lower and upper registers of his four-octave range. His pure voice, evocative lyrics and soaring melodies have made him a rising figure in the alt-folk scene.

Tempus, released 3rd May, sees Sam rework Kairos’s most arresting, intimate songs into richly layered acoustic versions with the help of producer Laurence Love Greed and some of the UK’s finest session players.

“he excels at propulsive, narratively rich folk, delivered in a soaring, clear-as-a-bell singing voice” - The Sunday Times
“there are vast emotional reserves at work” - The Independent
“a stunning work on so many levels” - Folk Radio

Evering is an acoustic duo formed by Scottish singer-songwriters Chris Yendell (Helensburgh) and Dawn Coulshed (The Black Isle) with the common goal of creating an original sound within an indie / folk genre.

Growing up on the likes of Led Zeppelin, Chris's raw vocals are immediately engaging and are supported by full sounding acoustic guitar riffs. Dawn trained as a classical pianist and her intricate piano work and distinctive vocal harmonies add to the duo’s timeless sound.

Evering released their debut EP titled Running Circles in 2015 which received coverage from BBC Introducing and XFM. Their most recent release, Beyond Oceans EP, took them to Berlin to record with producer Greg Freeman (Goldfrapp, Portico Quartet) and featured the lead single Driftwood.

"Great track with a bursting talent & energy” - Dave Rowntree (XFM)
