A Night of Folk music at Brig Below for only £3 On The Door.

Eryn Rae  Eryn has been playing since the age of 7 under the tuition of the Shetland fiddler Catriona Macdonald. Now 18, she has won numerous prestigious competitions as a soloist including the Robert Burns World Federation Young Burnsian of the year, and was a finalist in the 2017 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards. She can be seen playing alongside Scott in the 7-piece band Northern Company, and was a member of the Sage Gateshead's youth folk ensemble, Folkestra, which enabled her to tour internationally in Chicago and Denmark. Eryn's repertoire focuses heavily on traditional Scottish music, but she also plays material from the North of England and Ireland.

Scott Turnbull  Multi-instrumentalist Scott began playing at the age of 8, performing at concerts and ceilidhs both locally and nationally. Guided by well-established musicians including Kathryn Tickell and Ian Stephenson, he gained valuable experience playing with Folkestra and is a current member of Superfolkus, also mentored by Kathryn Tickell, touring and appearing on her recent album 'Waters Of Tyne'. As a member of Northern Company, he has toured internationally to festivals such as Sark, Le Son Continu, Priddy, and Towersey. Scott's main influences stem from traditional folk music, however his playing has also been shaped by jazz music through his time being tutored by pianist Harris Playfair and guitarist Ross Milligan.

Eve Simpson ‘Eve Simpson has a voice as pure as a mountain stream, and boy can she write' - The Crack  Releasing her debut Shelter EP at 17, Eve has toured alongside Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, as well as supporting Beth Nielsen Chapman, UB40 and The Lake Poets. 2018 added to the chart success of Shelter EP; Eve’s sophomore release: ‘Gloria I’m Home’ reached the no.2 spot on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart. Gloria gained Eve frequent airplay on Nick Roberts’ BBC Introducing show, as well as slots on the Evolution Emerging and Mouth of The Tyne BBC Introducing stage, earning Eve airplay on Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 show with ‘Austerity’. As well as her solo project, Eve has gigged as 1/6th of ‘Kathryn Tickell and Superfolkus’. Collaborative writing has seen Eve appear on Tickell’s ‘Waters Of Tyne’ release; and, compose a score on South Shields’ shipyard women for Shona Thompson’s: ‘A Kind of Seeing’ film, receiving a FOCAL International Film Award for ‘Best Footage on Innovative Platforms.’

Lesley Roley  From the Royal Albert Hall to Nashville, Tennessee, audiences have fallen in love with Lesley's pure, heartwarming vocals and winning personality. Her career follows years of live experience, both solo and in bands, which also saw her sharing a stage with The Golden Silvers, Mama's Gun, ex-Fratelli outfit Codeine Velvet Club and The Joy Formidable, and her talent has also been acknowledged with a support slot for Ben Howard, and performances on the Sage Gateshead concourse prior to Katie Melua, KT Tunstall and Martin & Eliza Cathy. After winning “Demo of the Month” in NARC magazine in November 2009, a successful A&R showcase in Notting Hill early in 2010 led to further interest in Lesley’s music. This resulted in a tour of Britain and Ireland in the spring of 2010 supporting Don “American Pie” McLean. En route Lesley acquired a new army of followers with a series of mature performances in some of the UK’s grandest venues, including the world-famous Royal Albert Hall. After regular sell-outs of her first E.P, her eagerly anticipated first album, “Way We Are” was released in October 2010, with a live recording following in July of 2011. This live concert recording features a 7-piece band performing a set that showcases both Lesley's excellent arranging skills and also her easy rapport with an audience. Lesley set off on a five week tour of Nashville, Tennessee, a trip funded entirely by donations from her devoted fans. As well as performing her songs at some of the most prestigious singer-songwriter nights in the U.S, including the infamous Bluebird Cafe, Lesley recorded a 4- track E.P with top local session musicians. The results are available to buy and download on iTunes and CD Baby and demonstrate a country-tinged edge to Lesley's ever-melodic compositions.
